3 Things To Find Out When Choosing A Venue For Your Wedding

Blog

Choosing a venue for your upcoming wedding is sure to be an exciting experience, but it can also be overwhelming. With so many options and features to consider, important questions can be overlooked that could lead to disappointment when all is said and done. Here are a few things you should try to find out when you are choosing a wedding venue:

Can Outdoor Areas Be Protected?

If the venues you are considering getting married at offer outdoor accommodations, it's important to find out if and how those areas can be protected from high winds, sun, and rain, depending on what your big day brings. Even if indoor areas are available for your guests to enjoy during and after the wedding takes place, some guests might prefer to spend their time outside in the fresh air where their kids can run around and where they can get away from the music and dancing.

But if there is no protection from the elements, your guests may not enjoy the time they spend outside. So make sure that the wedding venue you choose offers some kind of protection, whether it is in the form of venue tents, table umbrellas, or retractable canopies.

Is Rental Equipment Available?

It's important not to overlook the need for equipment rentals when booking your wedding venue. In addition to chairs for the ceremony and table settings for the reception, you will need lights, a stage, and music equipment for the festivities. You may be inclined to worry about the equipment rentals later down the line.

But if you don't ask about availability right away, you might be disappointed to find that you have to rent at least some of the stuff you need from a third party. Bring a list of equipment you will want to rent for your wedding when visiting prospective venues so you can find out exactly what the venue does and doesn't offer.

How Much Space Will Be Reserved?

Don't just assume that an entire venue will be reserved for your personal use on your wedding day. Some venues may accommodate more than one wedding party at a time or keep part of their facility open to the public even when a wedding is scheduled. If you expect to have the entire place to yourself on your big day, make sure you get a commitment in writing from the venue you choose that outlines the steps they'll take to make sure that the place is secured for your use only during your wedding and reception.
