Here are three NLP techniques that you can use to achieve your weight loss goals in the future.

1. Use future pacing to visualize the new you.

Visualization can be a powerful tool when trying to overcome negative eating habits. An NLP technique known as future pacing harnesses the power of visualization to help you achieve your weight loss goals.

Future pacing requires you to picture yourself at your ideal weight. You must imagine how the new you would respond to environmental triggers that would normally result in overeating. By visualizing yourself overcoming these environmental triggers, you can change the way they affect you in the present. Future pacing can be an effective NLP technique to incorporate into your weight loss routine.

2. Identify the positive intentions behind your lack or exercise or overeating behavior.

Every behavior you engage in is reinforced by a system of positive rewards. These rewards become the positive intentions that motivate you to continue engaging in a certain behavior, even if it is not conducive to meeting your weight loss goals.

Failing to go to the gym or eating too many doughnuts could result in feelings of comfort or fulfillment. By identifying the positive intentions behind behaviors that are preventing you from meeting your weight loss goals, you will be able to replace these negative behaviors with constructive actions that help you achieve the same positive rewards. Replacing negative behaviors with positive ones is a great NLP technique to help you lose more weight in the future.

3. Establish positive anchors that will help you overcome cravings.

If you want to break the addictive cycle that food cravings can cause, you may want to try an NLP technique known as anchoring. Associating a specific object (the anchor) with a specific memory or feeling gives you a visual reminder to help you alter your behavior.

By using an anchor object to remind you of a time you exhibited strength to refuse dessert or stop eating when you were full, you can repeat these patterns of behavior more easily in the future. Anchoring can be an effective way to use NLP to help you achieve your weight loss goals.
